One of the ways that I save time in the kitchen is to combine my salt and pepper into one container. My mix is one part fine sea salt to one and one half part fine ground pepper. I mix it together and keep it in a covered container next to the stove. While some recipes call for course salt or pepper, the majority of my dishes use just plain sea salt and black pepper. Instead of making two motions I can do it all in one step. It saves time when you have to salt and pepper several items for a meal.
